The section of the road that leads to Artist Point near Mount Baker is typically closed between November and July, so plan ahead for a summer and fall adventure!

It's named Artist Point for a reason! This spectacular destination at the end of Mount Baker Highway is an artist's dream inspiration. Hang around for sunset to watch the mountains light up with golden alpenglow.

Explore Historic Fairhaven Village and Downtown Bellingham by way of Boulevard Park and Taylor Dock, one of Bellingham’s most popular trails, especially for sunset photos.

Lummi Island is one of the best-kept secrets in the Salish Sea, and it’s only a 10-minute ferry ride away from the mainland. Check out our blog about Lummi Island to find public beaches and nature reserves great for catching sunset views.

Stunning views of the bay and San Juan Islands - what more could you ask for? Reaching this spot requires a hike, but it is well worth the effort, especially for a sunset to remember at the top. Don't forget to pack a headlamp for hiking down!

This small but mighty park is easily accessed by driving south down Harris Avenue. Walk there from downtown Fairhaven Village or use the parking lot right next to the water. A covered picnic area and grassy space for sitting make it a peaceful place for a sunset picnic overlooking Bellingham Bay.

Score amazing views of the water, and all the pretty boats at the marina, at Zuanich Point Park. The park offers walking trails, benches, picnic tables, and a playground. The openness of the park means that sunsets are especially spectacular.

Washington's first state park, Larrabee State Park offers a campground, hiking trails, and sweeping water views perfect for watching the sunset over the Salish Sea.

Bellingham isn't the only place to catch an amazing sunset. Thirty minutes north of town you'll find Semiahmoo Resort. Book a room or enjoy dinner at Packers Kitchen + Bar and watch the sun bleed into the waters of Semiahmoo Bay.

Top 10 Things to Do in Bellingham
We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
