Max Higbee Center Presents the 20th Annual April Brews Day

Max Higbee Center will present April Brews Day at the Downtown Waterfront on Saturday, April 27 featuring craft breweries from around the Pacific Northwest bringing a variety of different beers, including hoppy IPAs, crisp ciders, full-bodied stouts, and more. Tickets for April Brews Day will go on sale earlier than ever before on January 15, 2024.

Max Higbee Center is excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of April Brews Day following a triumphant return in 2023 with thousands of beer enthusiasts in attendance and a host of brewers new and old serving their best craft beer after a pandemic hiatus. The event will showcase local food vendors, live entertainment, and more at the Downtown Waterfront operated by the Port of Bellingham. The festivities of April Brews Day at the waterfront will mark the celebratory finale of Bellingham Beer Week.

“We felt a deep void with the absence of April Brews Day during the pandemic and it was such a joy to bring this event back in 2023. We heard from volunteers, ticket holders, and vendors that last year was the best April Brews Day to date,” says Kait Whiteside, executive director of Max Higbee Center. “We look forward to building on that success to raise funds for Max Higbee Center's programs and to hold another vibrant celebration of community and craft beer!”

General admission tickets will be $50 in advance and $60 at the door, and VIP tickets are $75. All tickets include a collectable tasting cup and tasting tickets for beer and food. VIP ticket holders receive exclusive and newly extended access to the event one and a half hours prior to general admission and receive additional tasting tickets.

April Brews Day is the culminating event of Bellingham Beer Week, a collaboration that highlights Bellingham’s booming beer scene. Bellingham Beer Week offers numerous events hosted by each of Bellingham’s local breweries and a few brew houses and pubs as well.

April Brews Day is a fundraiser for Max Higbee Center’s community-based recreation programs for people with developmental disabilities. The Center offers a wide variety of activities, including adaptive cooking classes, yoga, art classes, dance classes, trail hikes, visits to the library, and more. Programs promote health, personal growth, community access and social inclusion.

April Brews Day started in 2001 when Max Higbee Center had a need for funding, a wild idea to create Bellingham’s first beer festival, and a partnership with Boundary Bay Brewery. April Brews Day grew from a handful of breweries and a few hundred people to Bellingham’s largest beer festival.

This event wouldn’t be possible without the incredible generosity and support from sponsors like WECU and City of Bellingham Tourism.

We welcome you to join the festivities with April Brews Day’s official slogan, “Let it rain beer!”

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
