New SeaSkills Boating Expo in Blaine, WA May 13

The United States Power Squadron is excited to announce a free community boating event to be held all day Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Blaine Harbor Marina and Blaine Marine Park. SeaSkills Marine Expo 2017 is an opportunity to learn about all types of boats and different aspects of boating. Bring the whole family and get into the boating spirit. The day’s activities will include a variety of boats, from stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and canoes, to sailboats and power boats both large and small. Visitors will be able to get up close and look at many boats both inside and out, talk with owners and experts, and attend workshops on various aspects of boating. Workshop topics include: how to buy a boat, kayak and paddleboard safety, weather, and cold water immersion. Demonstrations and training in the use of distress flares will also be available starting at 10 a.m. The list of events will include:

  • Marine Distress Flare Training
  • Paddle sports demonstrations and training on the promenade and in the water
  • All day Marine vendor and exhibitor booths
  • Kid’s activities and vendor exhibits
  • Food trucks and vendors
  • Free 50-minute seminars - on the hour - in boats at the Visitor’s Dock and in the Harbor Conference Room
  • Plover Ferry Rides
  • Harbor Boat tours
Blaine Marina is located at 235 Marine Drive right off of exit 276 on I-5 in Blaine, Washington. There is plenty of parking available. Small children will love the Blaine Marine Park nautical playground, the Historic Plover Passenger Ferry will also be running during the event, so bring the whole family and have a fun day at the harbor. SeaSkills Marine Expo 2017 is a joint effort of the Bellingham Sail and Power Squadron and the White Rock unit of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron.
