A Mouthwatering Competition for Sandwich Enthusiasts

Sustainable Connections is thrilled to announce the launch of the second annual Spring Sandwich Showdown, a delectable competition that promises to tantalize taste buds and celebrate culinary creativity.

From April 15 to May 15, sandwich enthusiasts across the region will have the opportunity to indulge in a variety of delectable sandwiches crafted by 37 participating restaurants and cast their votes for the ultimate sandwich champion.

Here's how the Spring Sandwich Showdown works: throughout the competition period, hungry patrons can visit any of the participating restaurants to order their unique sandwich creations. Customers can then cast their vote for their favorite sandwich on Sustainable Connections’ website. Whether it's a savory, meaty delight, or a plant-based masterpiece, there's something for every palate in this showdown.

"We're excited to bring the community together through the joy of food while highlighting the importance of supporting our local businesses," said Amy Vergillo, Communications Director at Sustainable Connections. "The Spring Sandwich Showdown is not only a celebration of creativity but also a testament to the restaurants, cafes, and people that make our community so unique.”

In addition to satisfying their cravings for delicious sandwiches, participants will have the chance to win exciting prizes. Every week, one lucky voter will be randomly selected to receive the ultimate sandwich-themed prize valued at $50.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
