Bellingham Good Time Girls Announce Three Free Walking Tours

Get outside and get some Belling-history this summer with free Historical Walking Tours in Bellingham from the Good Time Girls, in partnership with the Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department.  Good Time Girl guides will lead three different free historical walking tours in summer 2019, based around Maritime Heritage Park and Whatcom Creek. These three tours are free, but space is limited and registration is required.

Whatcom Creek History Tour in Bellingham - Sunday, June 30, 2019

  • Let our guides teach you some Belling-history 101 while exploring the “noisy waters” of Whatcom Creek, the birth-site of our town. Visit two of the oldest buildings in town and learn the history of Old Town and Maritime Heritage Park.
  • The walking tour lasts about an hour and is less than one mile and is suitable for all ages and sensibilities.
  • Space is limited – reservations required.

Sin and Gin Walking Tour in Bellingham - Sunday, July 28, 2019

  • This popular guided walking tour will let you explore Bellingham's changing attitudes about “having a good time on the old town.”  Our costumed guide will take you through the rise and fall of the town's red-light-district and saloon era through prohibition when it all went underground. The tour lasts about an hour and is less than one mile, and is rated "mature" for adult-themed topics.
  • Space is limited – reservations required.

Gore and Lore Tour Walking Tour in Bellingham - Saturday, August 17, 2019

  • Explore the spooky history of downtown Bellingham with a costumed guide, who will regale you with creepy tales from Bellingham’s crypts – unsettling hauntings, strange historical happenings and horrific true crimes in the dark heart of our city.
  • This walking tour runs around 90 minutes, with a total distance less than 1 mile. Parental discretion advised for potentially scary, violent and gory topics.
  • Space is limited – reservations required.
Additional walking tours are offered by the Bellingham Good Time Girls on a regular basis. Bellinghistory Tours and Sin and Gin Tours generally run every weekend June through September. Spooky Gore and Lore Tours take place in October. Regular prices range from $17 to $25 per person.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
