The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra (BSO), a leading arts organization of the Pacific Northwest and resident orchestra of the Mount Baker Theatre, announces the resignation of Executive Director Eileen Brownell. A native of Reno, Brownell assumed the role of Executive Director in March. During her tenure, Dr. Brownell applied both her management expertise and her skills as an accomplished cellist in representing the BSO to the Bellingham community.
Brownell expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the BSO: “It has been an honor to work with [the Board of Directors] and the exemplary staff, donors, and musicians in the organization. It is my sincerest hope that the BSO will grow to new levels of artistic ambassadorship going forward.”

The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra performs seven concerts per season in the Mount Baker Theatre in addition to a variety of community and youth engagement programs throughout the year. As the BSO’s 48th Season commences, the staff will ensure the seamless continuation of its programming and work to engage, connect, and uplift the community in accordance with the organization’s mission.

The BSO’s 2023-2024 Season kicks off on October 1st with The French Connection, a program featuring Astor Piazzolla, Lili Boulanger, and Modest Mussorgsky with guest artist Héctor del Curto (bandoneon). This milestone season marks the ten year anniversary of Music Director Yaniv Attar’s debut with the orchestra.
