Blue Skies for Children Announces Dine Out for Kids Month in September

Local Restaurants, Breweries and Cafes Partner to Support Children in Need

Blue Skies for Children is thrilled to announce a new opportunity for community members to dine out and give back in September. From September 6th through the end of the month, community members are invited to dine at participating restaurants and cafes, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to support local children through Blue Skies for Children’s vital programs.

How It Works:

  1. Dine at Participating Restaurants: Choose from a variety of local restaurants, breweries and cafes offering special menu items.
  2. Support a Good Cause: A portion of your meal’s cost will be donated to Blue Skies for Children.
  3. Spread the Word: Share your experience on social media using #DineOutForBlueSkies and encourage your friends to participate.

Special collaborations include a Blueberry Cobbler Ice Cream created by Mallard Ice Cream in partnership with Antler Baking Company and a kid Cheese Pizza from Zeeks Pizza in Bellingham. Both of these collaborations are limited offers created to focus on favorite flavors from childhood!

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of our local restaurants and the community,” said Caprice Teske, Executive Director of Blue Skies for Children. “Dine Out for Kids is more than just a fundraising event; it’s an opportunity for everyone to come together during a traditionally hectic Back-to-School month to spend time together as a family while making a lasting impact on the lives of children in our community. We hope this provides a fun and engaging way for community members to make a difference while supporting local businesses.”

Every meal purchased during Dine Out for Kids helps fund programs that provide access for low-income, homeless and foster youth to participate in on-going enrichment activities. These after-school experiences are so vital in engaging and empowering youth to learn new skills, make friends, and learn resiliency.

Established in 1997, Blue Skies was created out of a need in our local community. In 2002, Blue Skies became a 501(c)(3) and hired its first executive director. Its mission is to raise hope and self-esteem by sponsoring enrichment programs and other essentials for homeless, low-income and foster children in Whatcom and Skagit Counties.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
