Exotic wildlife featured in Drive Thru Zoo coming to Lynden

An up-close look at exotic wildlife, including a spider monkey, emu and birds of prey, will be featured during a Drive Thru Zoo in September at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds & Event Center in Lynden.

Guests will slowly drive through the Wildlife of the World exhibit at the fairgrounds, 1775 Front St., while enjoying a narrated guide right through their car’s radio. Other featured animals include a sloth, wallaby, parrots and many more. Live demonstrations will also occur at various times. The estimated drive-through time is 30-45 minutes.

Wildlife of the World will be presented from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during two weekends: Sept. 11-13 and 18-20. Tickets will be sold in two-hour blocks for only $10 per vehicle (limit one person per seatbelt), available starting Wednesday, Aug. 26 at www.nwwafair.com. Limited standby admission will be available each day for $15 per vehicle.

“Wildlife of the World is fun, educational and affordable for the entire family,” said CEO Chris Pickering. “It’s also the rare event that can be safely offered during the COVID-19 pandemic because everyone stays in their vehicles.”

Co-presenting sponsors are Haggen Food & Pharmacy, CHS Northwest and KAFE 104.1FM.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
