International Plowing Match Returning for Its 83rd Year to Lynden, Washington

The 83rd International Plowing Match is making it annual return to Lynden, Washington, Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Berthusen Park. The plowing competition will take place from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Following the match, the Hall of Fame Presentation and Awards Ceremony will take place at 4:00 PM on the field. This event is open to all with free admission and parking. 

Enjoy the day watching talented individuals and their draft horses as they compete to be the best in various plowing events. Different classes of competition include adult, ladies, and youth walking plow and riding plow. Spectators are invited to enjoy a delicious lunch from JT’s Smokin’ BBQ, available for purchase from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM (or until sold out!) Dessert from Sugar Shack Ice Cream will also be available from 3 PM to 4 PM to celebrate the winners of the event. The entrance to the Plowing Match at Berthusen Park is located off West Badger Road.

Since 1942, the International Plowing Match has been a key part of the community showcasing a unique aspect of agricultural history. Organized by The Northwest Washington Fair and The International Plowing Association. The International Plowing Association is an active group of volunteers consisting of multi-generational plowing families and people interested in preserving the tradition of the Plowing Match.
