North Cascades Institute is Open

The North Cascades Institute is happy to announce that they've reopened the Environmental Learning Center in the heart of North Cascades National Park. Their socially distanced Base Camp Learning & Lodging program lets visitors enjoy the comforts of their campus on Diablo Lake. Every booking includes comfortable lodging, three delicious, locally-sourced meals and guided learning activities.

Can't make it to the North Cascades this year? The Institute is also sharing online classes on topics including nature photography, wolves, sustainability, corvid mythology - anyone can learn about this magnificent region from the comfort on your own home: ncascades.org/online.

Whether in sunshine or rain, down-valley or up in the mountains, in person or from your couch, North Cascades Institute is back with a diversity of pathways to help people everywhere better appreciate, understand and enjoy the natural world all around us!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
