Sustainable Connections, a 501(c)3 nonprofit with locations in Bellingham and Everson, WA, is excited to announce an open call for individuals interested in serving on their board of directors. As a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing a regenerative local economy that builds community, strengthens food systems, catalyzes climate solutions, and expands access to housing in NW Washington, Sustainable Connections is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in their leadership.
Sustainable Connections strongly believes that diverse perspectives and backgrounds enrich their decision-making processes and help them better achieve their vision of informed and engaged communities that are equipped to thrive during times of stability and are resilient in their ability to navigate challenges and crises.
The nonprofit organization is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to making a positive impact. The ideal board member possesses a strong belief in the mission and a commitment to promoting social change. Sustainable Connections particularly encourages individuals from underrepresented communities to apply, including but not limited to those from diverse racial, ethnic, gender, age, socioeconomic, disability, and LGBTQ+ backgrounds.

Advocating for the organization’s mission and engaging with the community.
Stipends are available for board members. To encourage a more diverse set of community voices on 501(c)3 nonprofit boards, the Mount Baker Foundation and Whatcom Family & Community Network have established a fund from which board or advisory members of nonprofits may request stipends and/or reimbursement for mileage and childcare.
