Registration Opens for Jr. Ski to Sea

Whatcom Events is pleased to announce that registration for the Jr. Ski to Sea Race is open as of February 1st.

We are excited to have acquired the Jr. Ski to Sea Race from the Bellingham Chamber of Commerce last year and after a three-year hiatus, we will be hosting the race on Saturday, May 13th, 2023

Team price is $140 and increases to $160 on March 15th. Registration is open on our website, or directly through the Pacific Multisports (our registration and timing provider) website.

The race will be open to Elementary, Middle School and High School students but will feature a new format from years past.

To truly mimic the Big Race, the Jr. Race will feature four legs: ski/snowboard, run, mountain bike, and kayak. The race will feature a virtual handoff from the Mt. Baker Ski Area to the three remaining legs at Lake Padden. Course descriptions and maps as well as information on sponsoring and volunteering can be found our website.

A little bit about myself. My name is Sarah Beck, I joined Whatcom Events in the fall of 2022 as the Jr. Ski to Sea Race Director and volunteer coordinator for all our other events. I have lived in Bellingham for 5 years with my better half, Robert, and with my two very active and beyond awesome kids. On my free time, I enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, or just frolicking in the sun. We are looking forward to a successful event in 2023.

Please contact me directly if you’d like to discuss any items included in this press release in greater detail.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
