Steve Meyers, long-time Pickford projectionist, Bellingham resident, and infectious movie fanatic is returning to curate and introduce the films in his beloved community film series, Rocket Sci Fi Matinees! The series will return January 15th, 2023 at 1:45 PM. All subsequent screenings will be on Sunday afternoons at the same time and attendance is $5.00.
The lineup includes The Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954) on January 15th, Revenge Of The Creature (1955) on February 12th, and to close the trilogy, The Creature Walks Among Us (1956) on March 26th.

"Hello Pickford fans! I am glad to report Rocket Sci Fi is back starting January 2023, moving to Sundays at 1:45 PM. We will be returning to gems of the 1950s, starting with the Creature From The Black Lagoon trilogy. The Creature was the last of the classic Universal Monsters, created by Millicent Patrick and debuting in the smash hit that bore its name in 1954. This is sci fi with an eco friendly message, and that message is RUN! The film was followed up with the thrilling Revenge Of The Creature in 1955 featuring our favorite Gill Man versus the aquarium fun park that kidnapped him, and finally The Creature Walks Among Us (1956) which brings mad scientists into the equation and provides a fittingly somber conclusion to the trilogy. Rocket Sci Fi was originally sponsored by the now defunct Rocket Donuts on Holly St starting in 2008 and running up until the pandemic in 2020. The Creature features were in that lineup as well! Now, they're back and better than ever! Check Pickford Film Center's website for tickets and details.
Founded in 1998, the Pickford Film Center serves the Whatcom community by screening independent films 365 days a year, producing and presenting the annual Doctober film festival, the Bellingham Children’s Film Festival, numerous film series and special events. The Pickford offers free documentary film showings to all Whatcom middle schools through Doc-ED and partners with students and schools for many other events during the year.
