SPARK Museum Unveils New Exhibit: “Curious by Design: The Mindport Legacy”

The SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention is proud to announce the opening of a new temporary exhibit, Curious by Design: The Mindport Legacy, honoring the beloved community institution that sparked imagination and learning in Bellingham for nearly three decades. The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, May 10, with a special private preview for SPARK members on Friday, May 9.

This interactive exhibit celebrates the legacy of Mindport Exhibits, a one-of-a-kind space that blended art, science, and hands-on discovery for nearly 30 years. Curious by Design: The Mindport Legacy brings to life the spirit of Mindport through interactive installations, and retrospective stories from the minds and hearts behind the magic.

Opening weekend will feature a ribbon cutting by Highline Construction at the member preview, and opportunities to engage with Mindport’s founders. The exhibit will be on display for a limited time, offering longtime fans and new visitors a unique window into the creative spark that lit up Bellingham for almost 30 years.

Opening Details:

· Member Preview Night: Friday, May 9 | 6:00–8:00 PM Exclusive after-hours access for SPARK Museum members – Invite Only

· Public Opening: Saturday, May 10 | During Regular Museum Hours

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
