Sylvia Center for the Arts in Bellingham is offering its second Summer Youth Acting Program. Classes are Monday through Friday beginning June 24 and culminating in six performances of Aristophanes The Birds in Maritime Heritage Park between July 18 to July 27, 2019. The class is a great opportunity for young actors to learn from local theater professionals and participate in the annual Open Air Summer Rep presented by Sylvia Center in partnership with Bellingham Parks and Recreation. This years summer youth program will be taught by iDiOM Theater alumnus Michael Morgen and the creative staff of iDiOM Theater at Sylvia Center for the Arts (207 Prospect St in downtown Bellingham), and will culminate in a free outdoor production of Aristophanes The Birds in Maritime Heritage park in July. Classes run Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.4 p.m., from June 24 to July 17, with performances Thursday/Friday/Saturday, July 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27. Registration is open to all students ages 13-17. In order to ensure that as many students and families as possible have access to the program, Sylvia Center is offering sliding scale tuition: $560/$420/$280/$140 for the four-week, five-days-a-week program. Last years youth production of Aphra Behns The Rover was moved inside from forest fire smoke, so we are back with an earlier time-slot and hopes of clear skies. KEY DATES:
