The Northwest Washington Fair Kicks Off This Week, August 7- 16, 2025

The Northwest Washington Fair starts this week, August 7-16, 2025, in Lynden, WA! Discover 10 days of family fun featuring adorable farm animals, delicious Fair food, entertaining concerts, carnival rides, and so much more.

This year, The Fair is thrilled to offer seven different days with free or reduced gate admission:

Thursday, August 7 - Community Education Day - Receive complimentary gate admission one of two ways, made possible by Trucordia: 

  • Free Admission for School Employees - All Whatcom County public, private, and tribal school employees receive complimentary gate admission with valid school credentials at Gates 1 or 5, all day from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
  • School Supply Drive - Guests who are not school employees can also get free admission by donating one new backpack or four school supply items (from the list below) at Gates 1 or 5 between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Donations will be distributed by Blue Skies for Children to Whatcom County students. Requested items: new backpacks, pens, pencils, black Sharpies (fine & ultra fine point), folders, notebooks, glue, scissors (all sizes, left/right-handed), rulers (standard/metric), markers, highlighters, and Crayola crayons.

Friday, August 8 – Food Drive Friday - Receive free gate admission between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM at Gates 1 or 5 with a donation of four food items (canned proteins, fruits, vegetables, dry pinto beans, rice, and pasta) to benefit the Whatcom County Food Bank Network. Made possible by Brown & Brown.

Sunday, August 10 – Free Morning Admission/Worship at The Fair - All guests receive free gate admission at Gates 1 or 5 between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Made possible by Peoples Bank. Please note that the carnival and most vendors open at 11:00 AM. Select vendors may be open before 11:00 AM. Join us for Worship at The Fair, an uplifting morning of worship, at 10:00 AM.

Monday, August 11 – First Responders Day - Honoring those who risk it all to help others. All law enforcement officers, EMTs, and firefighters with valid ID receive complimentary gate admission, including their spouse and children all day (11:00 AM – 10:00 PM). Must enter through Gate 1 or 5. Made possible by Puget Sound Energy

Tuesday, August 12 – Military Appreciation Day - Saying thank you to our nation’s heroes by providing complimentary gate admission for all active duty, retired, and veteran military personnel with valid ID, including their spouse and children all day (11:00 AM – 10:00 PM). Must enter through Gate 1 or 5. Made possible by Victory Legal Services PLLC.

Wednesday, August 13 – Kids Day - All children 12 and under receive complimentary gate admission at Gates 1 or 5, all day (11:00 AM – 10:00 PM). Made possible by WRS.

Thursday, August 14 – Western Washington University Day - All Western Washington University students, alumni, faculty, and staff with a valid ID receive $2 off gate admission all day (11:00 AM – 10:00 PM). Tickets must be purchased at Gates 1 or 5. The Fair is excited to partner for a fourth year with Western Washington University to provide this opportunity.

NEW this year are the Fair Food Value Menus. Enjoy select meals and food items from participating vendors that are $10 or less. Participating vendors will have a sign on their booth signifying their participation. See menu items and the complete list of Fair food vendors online at nwwafair.com/food.

Experience The Barnyard, a brand-new entertaining and educational exhibit showcasing farm animals of all kinds, presented by Elenbaas Company. Stroll by the Mamas and Minis display and meet mom and baby farm animals, presented by EPL Feed. Then, grab a seat and watch charming farm animals race to the finish line at the All Creatures Barnyard Races, happening daily at 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 5:30 PM, and 7:30 PM. Finally, settle in for a fun story during daily story times at 12:30 PM and 4:30 PM, brought to you by the Whatcom County Farm Bureau.

The fun continues with three small stages located throughout the Fairgrounds, featuring a variety of entertainment daily that is FREE with Fair gate admission. The Grandstand Horse Show will take place Monday, August 11 through Saturday, August 16 at 12:30 PM daily, in the Scholten’s Equipment Arena. Grab a seat in the Bank of the Pacific Grandstand and watch this amazing show, presented by Northwest Propane. Plus, don’t miss carnival rides and games, provided by Funtastic Traveling Shows.

Fair gates open at 11:00 AM and close at 10:00 PM. Carnival hours are from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and vendor hours are from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. General admission (ages 13-61) is $15, senior admission (ages 62+) is $13, and youth admission (ages 6-12) is $10. Children 5 and under are FREE! Ten-Day Gate Admission Passes are $45. Purchase unlimited carnival wristbands on The Fair website for $42 through August 6. August 7-16, unlimited carnival wristbands will only be available at Funtastic ticket booths for $55.
