Whatcom Museum Opens Two History Exhibits at Old City Hall in March 2017

The Whatcom Museum is pleased to open two exciting history exhibits at Old City Hall: The John M. Edson Hall of Birds and Focus on 50: Whatcom Community College. These two exhibits offer a variety of opportunities for hands-on learning about our local and natural history. John M. Edson Hall of Birds Opens Thursday, March 16, 2017 The Whatcom Museum's founding collection of mounted birds is reinterpreted as an educational experience at Old City Hall. Designed in collaboration with the North Cascades Audubon Society, the new exhibit will provide opportunities to learn about bird migration, conservation success stories, birds in peril, and the importance of studying bird specimens today. Alongside the interpretive panels and the birds themselves, the Hall of Birds will provide a variety of interactive opportunities for all ages. Focus on 50: Whatcom Community College Saturday, March 18 - Wednesday, May 31, 2017 From the beginning of its 50-year history, Whatcom Community College (WCC) has been recognized as an innovator. Talk to people who worked at the College in the early days (when the college offered classes at a hodgepodge of buildings throughout the county) and you'll hear some unbelievable stories. But WCC, and its graduates thrived. Today, WCC is regarded as one of the nation's top two-year colleges. This exhibition will engage visitors with "groovy" WCC memorabilia, recorded memories, and opportunities for guests to share their own Whatcom stories. Join us as we showcase how WCC helps graduates to transform their lives, and our community to thrive. Learn more at whatcom.edu/50. OLD CITY HALL | 121 Prospect Street | Bellingham, WA 98225 | HOURS: NOON - 5 PM ADMISSION: $10 General | $8 youth (6-17)/student/senior/military | $5 ages 2-5 | Under 2 free

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
