Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club Completes $3.8 Million in Critical Improvements

Semiahmoo Resort, Golf & Spa, in Blaine Washington, has made major capital improvements, allowing members and guests to enjoy enhanced facilities and a limited-time public play option. Members will continue to have access to Palmer Advantage and Private Club Network courses at 180 private golf clubs nationwide. Also, members will receive discounts at most Columbia Hospitality–managed golf courses and hotels, including Gold Mountain Golf Club and Salish Lodge & Spa.

“We are thrilled to welcome our local residents and potential new members to the
refreshed Semiahmoo experience,” said Director of Golf Jeff Mehlert. “The capital
improvements to the facilities are significant and allow us to provide a first-in-class course, surrounded by the beauty of the Northwest, as well as enhanced health and cleaning guidelines to ensure that we do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

In 2019, Semiahmoo invested over $3,800,000 into club facilities to elevate the
overall guest and player experience. These capital improvements include a fleet of Club Car golf carts, new roofs for the clubhouse and maintenance buildings, equipment and sand to upgrade golf course drainage, a new state-of-the-art irrigation system and new golf maintenance equipment, including mowers, rollers and utility vehicles.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club has maintained physical-distancing protocols and health precautions in accordance with the CDC and key government requirements. The safety and well-being of members, guests and team members remain the highest priority. The Semiahmoo team regularly sanitizes restrooms and club equipment to ensure the continued cleanliness of the facilities.

For a limited time, Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club is offering a public play special for community members to come enjoy the premier private golf course for $80 a day through April (with rates increasing to $125 per day in May), including green fee and range access. Avid golfers can also experience the country club lifestyle all month long, with unlimited golf for $350. This offer will continue until the Canadian border reopens, at which time the golf course will return to member-only access.

Semiahmoo’s practice facilities include a driving range, putting and chipping greens
and practice bunkers. The well-appointed golf shop and clubhouse include the Great Blue Heron Grill, the Blue Heron Cove snack bar and the Arnold Palmer banquet room. Additional amenities include the Eagles Nest (an indoor golf simulator lounge), two indoor tennis courts, two bocce courts, access to four pickleball courts (at Semiahmoo Resort), a seasonal outdoor pool, a hot tub and an outdoor events pavilion. Men’s and women’s locker room facilities include exercise equipment, showers and a sauna.

Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club is a private course with resort guest and limited public play access.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
