Great news! The historic Plover ferry will kick off its 2025 sailing season on Memorial Day Weekend.

Get ready to step aboard and set sail this Memorial Day Weekend as the beloved Plover Passenger Ferry officially launches its 2025 season. For over 81 years, the Plover has made waves in the hearts of locals and visitors alike, and this year promises to continue its cherished tradition of connecting Blaine Harbor and the scenic Semiahmoo Marina and Semiahmoo Resort-Spa-Golf.

A symbol of maritime heritage in Blaine, the Plover is much more than a ferry. It’s a gateway to adventure, an invitation to slow down and enjoy rich coastal charm, and a living testament to the area’s maritime history. Originally commissioned in 1944 to transport Cannery workers to the Alaska Packers' Association cannery at Semiahmoo Spit, the Plover Ferry has transformed into a treasured attraction, offering passengers an unforgettable experience on the sparkling waters of Drayton Harbor and the Salish Sea.

This season, the ferry will operate from Friday to Sunday with sailings every hour starting at 12 p.m. from Blaine Harbor Marina, Gate 2 and 12:30 p.m. from Semiahmoo Resort dock. One-way tickets are priced at $6 for adults (13+), $2 for children aged 3-12, and free for infants under 2, making it the perfect outing for families and adventurers of all ages. Sorry no pet allowed.

About Blaine by the Sea

Blaine by the Sea is dedicated to celebrating, promoting, and preserving the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Blaine, Washington. Through tourism partnerships, we continue to honor Blaine’s legacy as a vibrant coastal destination.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
