The Tour de Whatcom charity bike ride in Bellingham, WA is now open for registration. The ride is Saturday, July 21st, and leaves from Boundary Bay Brewery in Downtown Bellingham. The Tour de Whatcom has four different routes of varying lengths from 22 miles to 100 (Century Ride) miles and offers something for every level of cyclists and every member of the family. You get to see everything: Mount Baker, Lake Whatcom, valleys, rivers, lush farmland, beaches and Puget Sound all in one fairly level ride. Beautiful rides for a great cause!
The Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition (WMBC) will be the 2018 beneficiary of the ride.
“We are grateful to be the beneficiary of proceeds from the Tour De Whatcom and to Whatcom Events for recognizing our organization; without all of the dedicated community members contributing to this organization over the years, we wouldn’t have the 50+ miles of mountain biking trails we currently have access to," said Matt Durand, President of the WMBC. "This enables our organization to continue growing and seize on opportunities that are paramount to making Whatcom County a world-class recreation destination, namely the newly voted on reconveyance lands and our proposal for expanded mountain bike access and trails in Larrabee State Park.”
This will be the 13th year the Tour de Whatcom has welcomed riders from all over Washington State, the U.S. and Canada. This ride has been given great reviews and is a perfect event from beginner riders to avid cyclists. No matter what the participant’s skill level, the ride ensures beautiful sights and lots of fun for everyone at each of our five rest stops. Each themed rest stop will be equipped with food, water, drinks and fruit. All rest stops are run by volunteers with all proceeds benefiting Whatcom local organizations and charities. Rest stop sponsorship opportunities are also available to interested local companies.
Any individual may register for either the 22, 44, 62 or 100-mile rides. Current prices vary from $35-55 per person.
Registration this year includes a free pint glass, a free beverage ticket at the Boundary Bay Brewery Beer Garden, and a free digital download picture of riders. (All ages are welcome in the beer garden and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.)
We offer reduced prices for tandem riders, where the second rider is only $20 extra, and for families, with early bird pricing of $110 for up to six riders. Riders must be at least 10 years old for safety reasons. Early Bird Registration goes until May 1st. (After May 1st and after July 1st, all rates will increase by $10 and $20 respectively.)
