Visit Bellingham Launches Forward-Thinking “Bellingham Experience Ambassador Course” in Preparation for the World Games

Visit Bellingham has launched a new Bellingham Experience Ambassador Course to share the role of tourism in Whatcom County and help prepare local businesses to engage with the anticipated increase in visitors during the world games this summer.

The free online course involves short lessons about local amenities and insights into how tourism shapes our economy and community. The training is primarily intended for tourism and hospitality workers as well as community stakeholders who regularly engage with visitors, with the goal of fostering a more connected visitor ecosystem in time for the games this summer and beyond.

“Equipping this group with the knowledge and tools to serve as passionate, informed advocates for our community will not only enhance guest satisfaction but also encourage repeat visits and positive word-of-mouth marketing,” said Teri Treat, owner of the Inn at Lynden.

Upon completing the course, participants receive a digital certificate as well as access to a digital Ambassador Pass. The pass offers admission to select tourism attractions, activities, and experiences within Bellingham and Whatcom County.

“The training, plus the hands-on-experiences offered by the Ambassador Pass, will help local staff become subject matter experts in all that Whatcom County has to offer visitors,” said Visit Bellingham President & CEO Dylan Deane-Boyle. “Our hope is that the training will strengthen personal referrals, instill pride in our local assets, and offer a chance for locals to have some fun in their community along the way.”

Business owners interested in offering the program to their staff can access the course at https://learn.bellingham.org/

Visit Bellingham | Whatcom County is an independent, 501 (c)(6) nonprofit economic development organization whose purpose is to improve the economy by marketing Bellingham Whatcom County as a premier, year-round visitor, sports, outdoor recreation, arts and cultural, and meetings destination, which supports all travel, tourism, and hospitality businesses and nonprofits in Whatcom County.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
