Whatcom Artist Studio Tour Opens the Door on Creativity
The Whatcom Artist Studio Tour, an annual celebration of the arts inviting the public into the studios of working artists, returns for its 32st year October 4-5 and October 11-12.
The free, self-guided Tour features 62 artists throughout Bellingham and Whatcom County and provides visitors not only a glimpse into the design and creation of original artwork but also the opportunity to purchase fine art directly from the creators.
A popular art showcase that draws visitors from surrounding counties, Seattle and even Vancouver, BC, the Tour continues to affirm Whatcom County as a vibrant arts destination in the Pacific Northwest.
In addition to showcasing the diversity of artistic vision and talent throughout the region, the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour showcases the ongoing support from local civic, community, and business support for the arts through its sponsors, local galleries, advertisers, and individual donors.
WAST President and Ceramic artist Chris Moench observes that the Tour beautifully illustrates how the making of art is fundamentally a collaborative process between the artist and the community that responds to, supports and inspires its creation. Thus, this art is an expression of the vitality of our community.
