Whatcom Artist Studio Tour Spring Tour

The Whatcom Artist Studio Tour, an annual celebration of the arts inviting the public into the studios of working artists launches its very first Spring Tour, Saturday and Sunday May 16 and 17 from 10-5 p.m.

The free, self-guided Spring Tour, featuring 25 artists in a variety of art mediums, provides a preview of what visitors will discover during the annual Fall Tour, held the first two weekends in October and featuring 50 artists throughout Whatcom County.

The diversity of talent and creativity throughout Whatcom County is showcased by the artists on the Tour. This event also demonstrates the local civic, community, and business support for the arts and is facilitated by the support of our sponsors, local advertisers, and individual donors.

WAST President and Ceramic artist Christopher Moench adds that the Tour shows the vital role that art plays in the life of a thriving community.

“Artists working in Whatcom County are an expression of the vision and creativity of our whole community,” notes Moench. “Each creation speaks not only of the artist’s personal inspiration but also becomes part of an ongoing conversation among all who live here about our connection to one another and to the place we live.”

“The working artists opening their studios during the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour are inviting one and all to engage more deeply in that conversation” adds Moench. “We say come to us, see these works, tell us if they speak to you, weave this story with me!”

You’ll find artist profiles and locations where the Spring artists will be showing their work.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
