Winter storm watching: Experience the stunning Semiahmoo Resort

Storm watching by its very nature involves bad weather, and the more dramatic the storm the better. When choosing a place to stay, a full-service resort makes the most sense because while you may want to watch the storm, you don't want to drive in it. The Semiahmoo Resort fits the bill with a facility that is jam-packed with activities and amenities. Located about two-and-a-half hours from Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), Blaine is the perfect distance for a weekend getaway. Located on the Washington coast between Semiahmoo Bay and Drayton Harbor, the resort sits on a long spit of land that allows water views from both sides of the hotel. On the western side, watch storms roll in across Semiahmoo Bay, obscuring your view of Canada, while on the eastern side the stunning views of Mount Baker disappear as storm clouds rush in.         We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
