Point Roberts

Point Roberts can only be accessed through the US/Canadian border or by small plane or a private boat.

Sun-drenched Point Roberts has always been a favorite destination for visitors. Located just south of Vancouver BC’s metro area, Point Roberts can only be accessed through Canada or by small plane or a private boat.

The peace and quiet, forests, beaches, water and, above all, a friendly reception from the residents is what draws many tourists to Point Roberts. Today, about 900 people call the Point their home year-round.

Point Roberts is separated from the rest of Whatcom County and Washington state by 23 driving miles through British Columbia. The community is about 30 minutes by car from Vancouver and a 10-minute drive from the Tsawwassen ferry dock linking the mainland to Vancouver Island – Victoria, B.C when the border is open.

Travel to the extreme NW peak of the US Pacific Northwest when you visit gorgeous port communities on the 49th parallel. No cost to sign up. Start your quest today here.

We recommend visiting Lighthouse Marine Park. This includes a full-service campground, boat ramp, picnic sites and boardwalk. Orca whales sightings are common on the west side of the Point. Two more popular parks include Lily Point Marine Park and Monument Park.

Boating is central to the life of Point Roberts. The marine atmosphere colors much of the local activity at “The Point.” A marina, yacht club and wide variety of marine services offer virtually everything a boater could need, including a headstart to the San Juans, Gulf Islands, and some of the finest fishing, sailing and cruising in the Northwest.

In addition to the outdoors, there are restaurants, taverns, a new golf course, and a quaint bed and breakfast.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
